Dr. James A. Denham is a physician with recognized experience in occupational, maritime and hyperbaric medicine. He has worked in the United States Navy as a family physician and for more than 28 years he has served as an occupational physician in charge of the underwater medicine program in the Panama Canal, being one of the first hyperbaric doctors in the country. He has a Master's Degree in Business Administration from the INCAE Business School, a Master's Degree in Maritime Medicine from the University of Cádiz and a Master's Degree in Occupational Health and Safety from the Antonio de Nebrija University in Spain. He was an ISO 9001:2015 Auditor and Lead Auditor for the Human Capital Department of the Panama Canal Authority, and is an active member of the International Maritime Health Association (IMHA), Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society (UHMS), and the American Academy of Underwater Science (AAUS), among others. He is currently an Independent Consultant, Assistant Professor in Hyperbaric and Underwater Medicine at the University of Cádiz and Co-Editor of the magazine International Maritime Health.
